Assemble Media Group (AMG), publisher of Building, Housing Today and Building Design, has renewed its strategic partnership with the international non-profit organization Climate Group to highlight the critically important role of the built environment in the global transition to net zero emissions.

The collaboration, which began last year, will continue until 2025. It will include the second annual event during Climate Week NYC, which will take place this September — the flagship annual Climate Group conference, held in partnership with the United Nations and the City of New York.

The partnership will also cover AMG’s wider portfolio of editorial content and events throughout the year, including a new category at this year’s Building Awards ceremony — the Environmental Impact Award.

Mike Peirce, Executive Director of Systemic Change at Climate Group, noted:
"The construction sector has always been at the core of Climate Group’s focus, as we work with businesses and governments that are actively decarbonizing steel and concrete — the most fundamental building materials.

Combined with our work on energy efficiency, this makes our partnership with AMG during Climate Week NYC and throughout the year extremely valuable. By joining forces, we can help raise awareness of the latest innovations and help overcome the barriers that still stand in the way."

Cameron Marshall, Commercial Director at AMG, added:
"We are delighted to be partnering once again with Climate Group in 2025. Providing our communities with independent journalism lies at the heart of our mission, and working with Climate Group both during Climate Week NYC in September and across our wider portfolio is the perfect way to deliver vital sustainability insights to our global audience."

As part of the partnership with Climate Group, the new Environmental Impact Award will be open to those contributing to the environmental agenda, including reducing carbon emissions, developing the circular economy, improving biodiversity, conserving nature, cutting waste and lowering pollution levels.

Mike Peirce will also join the judging panel for this year’s Building Awards.

He said:
"The construction sector plays a key role in the energy transition and helps save costs by creating buildings with low-carbon materials that are energy-efficient in operation. But the environmental impact of buildings goes far beyond that: it encompasses waste management, pollution prevention, advancing the circular economy, and reducing the consumption of high-carbon footprint products.

At Climate Group, we are pleased to see these opportunities recognized through the new award. And as a jury member, I look forward to discovering a wealth of innovations and breakthrough solutions so that we can help spread these ideas even further."

Overall, the partnership aims to accelerate knowledge-sharing and innovation, fostering systemic change in how buildings are designed, constructed, and operated in the face of climate challenges.
